how to be emotionally strongIn the past two posts, I talked about physical workout and mental workout as part of the 360 degree workout for achieving your dreams and attaining your desired lifestyle. In this post, I cover the third aspect f the 360 degree workout; that is, emotional workout.

As you know, stress can become a real barrier in achieving true happiness, fulfilling our dreams, and creating the lifestyle we desire. Having too many activities and priorities will make you forget the purpose of them all. You will fail to enjoy the fruits of your labor, letting you lead a directionless life full of stress. The sad thing about it is that you waste energy on something with no purpose.

Stress also brings down your energy, increasing the vulnerability to negative emotions such as anger. That is why it pays to organize your life and set priorities straight so you remove stress.

Hurt and pain are a natural part of human existence. You cannot control the bad things that are happening around you. You can only do so much to avoid getting hurt but there will be no assurance that you will be immune to it. When you get hurt, you should give yourself time to lick your wounds and comfort yourself. However, you should not let the hurt linger longer than it should. You may have been hurt by a family member, friend, or someone else you know.

It comes to a certain point when you should stop hurting for your own benefit. You will put yourself in danger when you play like a victim and stay angry, bitter, and hurt for too long. Let go of your grudges and victim mood to save on emotional space. Save that emotional space for happiness.

To make yourself emotionally strong, be loving yet detached toward people. Be compassionate. Be vulnerable so people will feel that you are also a human being who can make mistakes. Yet be determined so they will feel that they can achieve great things through hard work and perseverance. And above all put a smile on your face no matter what.

Don’t forget that when you are emotionally strong, you can think and act better. You can respond to situations more effectively and therefore get much better results. Combining emotional strength with physical and mental strength can help you stay healthy, focused, and happy.

What can you do today to make yourself emotionally strong?
