inner-powersIn today’s world of physicality there are lots of triggers that make us react to various situations. A driver cuts our way and we become angry and try to do the same with him or someone else. A friend tells something, we take it personally and get mad at her. A supervisor critiques us and we become motivated to take revenge in various ways. We fail to achieve a goal and we start blaming ourselves and others. In all these situations we are controlled by external situations and have no control over them. We lose connection to our power house and therefore feel powerless. As a result, we react in order to get a rush of energy and fight back. When we react to situations, we are fed by our ego.

In order to move forward and grow, we should be able to respond to situations rather than reacting to them. But how can we respond to the situations properly and go up rather than down? In other words, how can we respond from a state of power? The answer is to use the treasure of powers. “The treasure of powers?” you might say. Is there such a treasure? Yes, there is.

God has given human beings lots of gifts and treasures. One of these treasures is the treasure of 8 powers. These powers are within all of us. The issue is that we rarely use them because we have lost connection with these true powers. Do you want to know what these 8 powers are? Keep reading.

Based on the teachings of Brahma Kumaris, the eight spiritual powers of soul are as following:

1- The power to withdraw: Like a turtle that goes into its shell when in danger, we can withdraw ourselves from any situation, become detached, and protect ourselves from being reactive and drained.

2- The power to pack-up: With this power we can pack up all wasteful thinking in a second and put an end to it. This way we always live at present. We will not be attached to the past or worried about the future. We will be ever ready to go within in any situation and respond properly.

3- The power to tolerate: With this power we act like a tree that serves others in various ways despite their disrespect and become humble. Using this power we would be able to tolerate all types of situations no matter how harsh they might look because we understand that everyone is playing their role in this world of drama.

4- The power to accommodate: Like the ocean that accepts different rivers that flow into it, whether polluted or clean, by applying the power of accommodation, we will be able to adjust ourselves to all that is happening around us without being affected by them. With this power not only we will stay pure and unshakable but also we transform the weak atmospheres to powerful ones and create benefits for others.

5- The power to judge: With this power we can assess any situation with clarity and confidence. This power helps us judge our own thoughts, words, feelings, and actions. When we are able to judge ourselves properly, we don’t need to judge others as we take responsibility for what is going on in our lives and we know that others are doing their parts. With this kind of judgement we will stay on the right track no matter what happens. When we are on the right track we will draw others toward the right track through our own examples.

6- The power to discern: Just as a professional jeweller who can discern the real diamond form the artificial one, with the power of discernment we can discriminate accurately between the real truth and the apparent one, between the right and the wrong. This power helps us recognize the traps of ego and therefore stay focused, positive, and enthusiastic on the right way always.

7- The power to face: With this power we face any situation without fear and doubt because we have faith in God, in ourselves, and in the drama of life. We know that any situation is for our own growth. We take responsibility and embrace sudden changes and challenges because we know that they are for our own benefit. With this power we know that we are God’s instruments and therefore accept everything that comes to us with zeal and enthusiasm. This way others will also benefit from our elevated stage.

8- The power to co-operate: This power helps us share with others without expecting anything in return. When we are willing to co-operate, we never think of competition. We are open to others and welcome their input. Through teamwork and co-operation everyone will achieve more. We will learn from others while we share our virtues and specialities with them. The more we share the more we receive and that what makes us rich.

By applying these inner powers in our day to day activities and interactions with people and our surroundings, we will never feel down and defeated. In contrary, we will stay focused on our true path and become content with where we are and what we have. When we are content, there will be no need to react to any situation because we are detached and ever ready to respond properly.
